This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.
These positions will support the analysis of submarine structural systems. Will perform specification trade studies and prepare recommendations for the design and engineering of structural systems in support of the Columbia Class submarine program.
Some driving into the yard (i.e. inside the gates) to discuss construction needs may be required, but employee will typically take the NNS Shuttle Van or our department vehicle.
Some travel may be required, but it will be infrequent (2 or 3 times/year).
Must have 5 Years relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
Candidates submitted must have experience in the below areas:
o Good working understanding of Finite Element modeling theory and practice.
o Understanding of welding as it applies to the development of structural systems and components.
o Capable of interfacing with Design to understand design and arrangement constraints of various structural systems, and lead other engineers and designers in the development of these systems to meet the requirements.
o Coordinate discussions and incorporate engineering aspects with manufacturing, tooling, materials and planning trades.
Bachelors in Science, Masters, or PhD. Must have ABET Engineering degree.
1st Shift (7:30 to 4:00), Lunch is 12:00 to 12:30. 10%-15% overtime encouraged.
