Perform Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) in support of the SLS Program's PRA model development effort. Candidate will be responsible for updating, integrating, and maintaining risk models for the SLS elements managed by MSFC. This includes developing, updating and integrating logic models using quantitative fault tree analysis (SAPHIRE); developing data sources and failure scenarios by analyzing and interpreting failure reports, generic sources, hazard analyses, FMEA/CIL reports, and performing Bayesian updating of failure probability distributions. Additional responsibilities include performing focused quantitative risk assessments to support risk-informed decisions pertaining to flight risk and risk mitigation alternatives.
- BS in Engineering required
- 7 Years of Experience
- Must be a US citizen
- Must be able to pass a national agency check
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate abstract probabilistic and statistical concepts to management; the ability to interface effectively with hardware and systems engineers to develop comprehensive understanding of SLS hardware, operations, and performance; the ability to apply concepts from probability and statistics to quantify the likelihood of high consequence failure scenarios; the ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and integrate failure date with engineering judgment. Experience in PRA methodology using SAPHIRE is highly desirable.
Position requires a competent communicator (verbal and written) with ability to work harmoniously and effective with co-workers, Bastion Management and all levels of customer personnel.
Required to be regular in attendance (per agreed to work hours schedule), consistently punctual and be relied upon to successfully complete all assignments.
